Dear High School Seniors...

It's has been a while since I have been here. I have been very busy with a new semester, starting a new job at a call center and just figuring out my life. I keep thinking of where I was this time last year. I was finishing out my senior year of high school and everything after prom is just a blur. It went by so fast and I didn't take the time to really reflect because I was too busy wishing away the last few months of high school. I wanted to take a few minutes to address the Class of 2017.

Dear High School Seniors,
I know that you are probably over this whole high school garbage. I remember feeling the exact same way. I was ready to move on and start my life. I'm not saying that I want to go back but I am saying that things are very different now than what I thought they would be when I graduated.
The last first day of school is over, your last homecoming in gone, everyone came to see you on senior night, the music trips are done, prom will come and go quickly then graduation will fly. The time in between is the time you made memories and enjoyed the last year all being together.
Pretty soon all of you will be off on your own. Some of you will be going into the military, some will go to college, some will start working right away, some of you may travel, and some of you may just feel stuck. No matter who you are on that spectrum, don't forget to take time to reflect on what all those teachers, coaches and the years being there taught you. Trust me you will be glad you did.
Don't wish away these next few weeks. I know it's really hard not to especially on the very last day. Take the time to thank the teachers who really made an impact on you and thank the coaches who really inspired you. You have your whole life to be an adult, cherish the moments when you can still be a kid. Don't blink because if you do, you're going to miss it all. Before you know it you'll be standing on stage in your cap and gown accepting your ticket into the adult world.
To the Class of 2017, I wish you all the very best. No matter what you decide to do next, don't forget how you got to this point and always remember to make every moment count. You are all amazing!

Sincerely,
Someone who has been there :)

When life gives you (sour) lemons...

This week started out very difficult. My dad was having health problems, my work days felt longer than ever before and on top of that I locked my keys in my car....and it was only Tuesday! Since then I have been determined to turn it all around. Yesterday morning I got up and I said I am going to have a great day. I really did. This week I really learned what Hannah Montana meant when she said "Life's what you make it, so let's make it rock" The last few days held little victories for myself and others who I surrounded me. I got most of my college stuff figured out, all of my housing plans have been finalized and one of my students finally got off the bus by herself today! The sweet moments in my life have balanced out the sour ones and have put a better taste in my mouth as the week comes to a close. Make sure you always have sugar and water on hand because when life gives you some of it's sour lemons, through time, patience and a little hard work, your lemona...
